MINISTRY FOCUS
INTERNATIONAL MINISTRIES
FEBC International exists for the sole purpose of bringing the love of God to the world – by developing evangelistic and discipleship programmes, for broadcast to its global audience. Although people may be isolated by economic, educational, geographic, political and religious barriers, radio and other media can continue to overcome these limitations and bring the news of God’s salvation to all who will hear it.
The goal is to broadcast the Good News of Jesus Christ in the “heart” languages of its listeners , so that many people will come to know Him as Saviour – and learn to obey and serve God as members of a local body of believers (where possible).
National staff members write, record, and host most of the language programmes that FEBC International broadcasts; some material is produced by other Christian organizations. In order to overcome barriers of language and culture there are national directors and boards in each ministry office. Canada’s role is to support the work in prayer, publicity and finances so that these ministry people can carry out their work.
The broadcasts include Bible studies, preaching, teaching, music, counselling and live call-in. These programmes introduce listeners to Christ, disciple and encourage them, and train many for church leadership.
Staff members respond to listeners’ requests with Bibles, booklets, literature, and counsel. Occasionally it is possible for radio staff to meet listeners face to face as they minister in urban areas or travel throughout the countryside. Often the ministry of FEBC is the only source of teaching that these people have so there is a very strong bond of fellowship established between broadcasters and listeners.
Seminary-level courses and/or Bible correspondence classes are offered in some countries – to train and equip lay and church leaders, to teach Bible studies, and to assist local churches. In many countries there are no other available resources for Christian training.
In other countries marriage seminars instruct couple on how to nurture their marriages – and listener rallies encourage people to listen to the Gospel.
RELATED TECHNOLOGIES
For many years our motto was “Christ to the World by Radio.” However, with the development of newer technologies, we now also communicate the “old, old story” by media that was not available when the work began. For many years, AM, FM, and shortwave broadcasts represented the only viable means of reaching the most people with the Gospel message. Nowadays, even in the remotest parts of the world, millions of people depend on internet and satellite broadcasting, podcasting, MP3 players, cell phones, memory cards, and speaker boxes. In countries where official policy restricts the Christian message, these newer methods of communication are most effective in sharing the Gospel. Now, however, in even the remotest parts of the world millions of people depend on internet and satellite broadcasting, podcasting, MP3 players and cell phones/memory cards/speaker boxes. In countries where official policy restricts the Christian message these newer methods of communication are most effective in sharing the Gospel.
Speaker boxes are tiny devices that span just a few cubic inches, a number of which are designed and assembled by FEBC International staff. A pre-programmed chip is inserted in the box, and provides some forty hours of broadcast material. Agricultural workers carry them into their fields for a week at a time, where they often memorize much of what they hear. The boxes can be recharged by batteries in the motor bikes that these workers use, and when they return to town at the end of a week’s work, they can seek out a local ministry “hub” and have a new chip inserted into the box. These speaker boxes also serve as the focus for groups, which get together for fellowship and worship.
An added advantage of having a speaker box, is that in places where persecution and other dangers threaten those who want to learn about God’s message, it is possible for seekers to listen privately to learn and be strengthened.
Of course, these technological advances are also useful in places where there are millions of people who are literate. In many settings there is a total absence of pastors or teachers, but churches and fellowship groups have sprung up around a radio, a cell phone or some other device that speaks to the hearts of the people. In fact, more than 1.25 million listeners respond annually to ministry broadcasts – by means of letters, phone calls, e-mails, and text messages. Many of these messages are accounts of how God is miraculously reaching people, who would otherwise have no opportunity to hear and respond to the Good News. In many countries, the broadcasts can put listeners in touch with Bible Correspondence Courses, online or by mail.

FEBCanada, the Canadian branch of FEBC International, encourages and enables Canadian Christians to participate in the worldwide ministry through prayer, financial contribution, and volunteering.
IN CANADA
To help fulfill the objective of encouraging Christians to participate in FEBC International’s global ministry, FEBCanada shares what God is doing through its multi-language broadcasts—at friendship dinners, via personal contact, through literature distribution, at Christian colleges, in church services and meetings.
The Canadian ministry operates recording studios in the Metro Vancouver head office, and in satellite studios located in Metro Toronto and Edmonton. Programs are produced in Cantonese and mandarin by the Chinese ministries department—for broadcast to Mainland China, and locally in Vancouver.
FEBCanada desires to promote the overseas mission of FEBC International – by encouraging Canadian Christians to participate in the radio ministry through prayer, financial contributions, and volunteering.
The synergistic broadcast mandate of the missionary radio network, is to bring the love of God to the world – by developing evangelistic and discipleship programs, for broadcast to its global audience.

I was very excited when I received the radio from your ministry. Because of this, every day we are able to grow steadily in our faith. In my opinion, every single program is so nurturing to my soul, and that is why I often tune in to FEBC.
